KitchenAid Artisan Mixer

I have to tell you about my newest kitchen purchase. I have always wanted to get a good KitchenAid Mixer but I always thought they were too much money to spend on. Boy was I wrong. Yes, they are a bit expensive but you will never buy another mixer again, so in the long run you get more than your money’s worth. I’ve had my KitchenAid Artisan Mixer for a few months now and I thought I would share with you exactly how great it is and give you the pro’s and cons as it were.

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, therefore I’m careful about my choose of kitchen equipment. Read all the reviews, looked at the mixer in department stores, and spoke to people who owned them.

The mixer is heavy duty, no movement on your counter top. I placed mine in a position where I would not have to move it a lot. Made two cakes to begin with did a great job. Then came the lemon meringue pie. Decided that you did indeed need to adjust the beater height.

One should read the manual first, as my husband says “It’s best to know how your tools works, before you use them.” A sugestion of my own is to check the attachment cover before you ever use this mixer, make sure the screw is tight. Mine came off like a minature missle. Nothing broke , but be aware that this is a powerful mixer. I did have it on high since I was making meringue. If you have been undecided about this mixer, hopefully you’ll change your mind.

As for cons…I Can’t find any…Okay, maybe just one con…It’s very heavy.

Just look what others have had to say:

I bought a Green Apple Artisan mixer 3 years ago and have LOVED everything about it, so I recently bought a Blue Willow Artisan for my niece’s wedding present. Purchased at a great price reduction during a rebate period before Christmas. The only reason I give this one 4 stars is because the painted finish has a couple of tiny pits and a tiny nub on the base and the blue color is a bit dull, (if I had it to do over I’d get this blue loving niece the “Martha Stewart Blue”) – and the stainless steel band around the top was a bit loose. However, for function I give it 5 stars. Creaming butter and sugar for cakes is a breeze and the splatter shield is great. I bought an ice cream attachment separately so my husband is now making delicious sherbert from our farm berries. And, looks great on the counter when color coordinated with kitchen decor.

I have owned a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for many years; I don’t think I could function in my kitchen without it. Every mixing, blending, stirring, whipping, etc., task that I do reminds me of how truly exceptional this product is. The quality of the KitchenAid brand is superb; it just keeps working, and working, and working. This year I was able to buy this red beauty for my daughter as a Christmas gift. Boy, I really hit a home run with this year’s gift! She was so excited and thrilled to receive it. I know she, too, will have many years of enjoyment from her KitchenAid.

I have wanted one of these mixers since I got married, 6.5 years ago. They always seemed a bit too expensive, I was afraid I wouldn’t use it enough to be worth the investment, and there were/are so many choices that I couldn’t figure out which mixer was the best deal.

Well, I finally bought one, this one, this KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart stand mixer, in pink, since they donated $50 to cancer research when I registered my product.

I am thrilled. Absolutely thrilled. The only thing I am disappointed in is myself, for not spurging sooner. I’ve had mine for about a month, and I’ve used it more than a dozen times, to make homemade bread (using the recipes that came with the mixer, which I am very pleased with so far), for boxed and homemade cake mixes, making whipped potatoes for my sister after she had her wisdom teeth out… and I am impressed.

Whether you cook a little or a lot, I think this is a great purchase. It is easy to use, easy to clean and mixes things much better than I ever did before.

My husband purchased the KitchenAid KSM150 mixer for my Christmas present. He did a lot of research, and found this one to be rated very high. I love it! The first thing I made was German stollen, using the wire whip and the bread hook. It worked like a charm, saving me at least a half hour of kneading time. It’s heavy, very powerful, and has all the features I need. Plus, it has the option of lots of attachments. (I’m thinking of getting the juicer.) The bowl is very deep (keeps splattering to minimum) and it locks into place. The whole thing fits neatly under the cabinet in the corner of my kitchen counter. After using a hand mixer for so many years, this is a real luxury!
