Brown Sugar Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour, divided use

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

2 cups brown sugar, packed

3 large eggs

1 cup evaporated milk

2 tablespoons rum

Powdered sugar, to sprinkle on top


Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a medium bowl. In another large bowl beat the butter until creamy then add the brown sugar gradually while continuing to beat. Once the last of the brown sugar is beaten in and the mixture is smooth then beat in the eggs one at a time until smooth then gradually start beating in the flour mixture and evaporated milk alternatively. Lastly stir in rum.

Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan and pour the prepared batter into it. Bake for 60 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. When done remove to wire rack and let cool completely. When cool invert onto plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Almond Honey Cake Recipe


Ingredients:

1/2 cup almonds, slivered

1 package yellow cake mix

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 cup honey

3/4 cup brewed coffee

1/3 cup vegetable oil

2 tablespoons orange peel, grated

1 tablespoon lemon peel, grated

1 large egg


Directions:

In a large bowl mix together the yellow cake mix, vegetable oil, coffee, ginger, cinnamon, honey, orange peel, lemon peel, and egg. Once mixed well and smooth pour mixture into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 60 minutes. About half way through sprinkle the slivered almonds over top.
